There's a very populat sports quiz show on BBC radio called Fighting Talk and when somebody gets a question right they are known to play the Professionals music.
I love all the locations they use. One of the cafes the boys go to visit was just around the corner from where I lived in London. I was very excited when I recognised it in one of the episodes. _________________ LAMENT: Chapter 21: - 16505 words |

OMG - I dunno where Ive been or why I've never noticed this thread before - but Professionals fans!! Yay!
Doyle/Martin Shaw was my third teenage crush (after Starsky and Bjorn Borg!!) and I was nuts about him. This was in the days before video recorders and it used to be hell on a sunday night as i had to wait until my dad had finished watching Mastermind before I was allowed to turn over to ITV and see the last 45 mins of the Professionals...! On my paper round I would always check the TV times when it came out to see what time and whihc episode was on that week.
An old school friend sent me a video years ago of three episodes (she was a Bodie fan!) but I havnt seen it since - I'l have to try and get a DVD and view it in a completely different way - I didnt even know about slash then!
I also got taken to see Martin in They're Playing Our Song at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London for my birthday by my sister (I must have been 14/15) - and I loved it. Floated around for days afterwards! Im wondering if Ive still got any of the stuff I collected at the time - will have to go and check in the attic later!!
AND I wrote fan fic at the time - more Mary Sue type ones and pretty crap too Im sure , but boy did I love Doyle! It was definetly the curls!!
(I seem to have had crushes on guys that either have dark curly hair (Starsky, Doyle) or very blonde (Borg, and (ahem) Shane Warne!) No wonder I love James - he's been both!! _________________ "You're beautiful baby! You're wonderful and you have a gorgeous smile!" - James, Boston Megafest 2009 |

Yay! Another Professionals fan
My first big crush was Starsky, followed closely by Bodie, yep I was a Bodie girl. Now I love them both and rewatching the series (bought the complete box set) gave me a whole new appreciation for the show - bring on the slash. I was too young when I originally saw it to even know what slash was.
Extemely jealous you got to see Martin Shaw in the flesh He is still absolutely gorgeous and just gets better with age. _________________ avatar miss jaffa cake |

Hey, Welcome Krazy1! Always fabulous to meet other Professionals fans.
One day I'll try to have another burst of capping. It was a hell of a lot of work and at the moment I don't have time to do any more and my old computer is full and about to die any day, but hopefully I'll do another batch down the track.
Now 'fess up. Are you a Bodie or Doyle girl? _________________ LAMENT: Chapter 21: - 16505 words |

Come on look at my avatar ! Bodie all the way. But and there always is a butt ... (particularly a gorgeous Bodie one or the can't keep his clothes on Doyle) I have no problems watching Doyle slipping in and out of his clothes. Love that Martin Shaw was the serious actor but was usually in a state of undress (bless him).

Hey Krazy1, glad to see you here.
I found this this morning. It's a fan vid of Starsky & Hutch, the American version of the Pros.

My goodness, they certainly copied the tight pants, too. _________________ "Damn right I'm impure. I'm as impure as the driven yellow snow." - Spike |

Well it has been a long time since I saw any S & H. I saw some of the series as a kid. Used to like Starsky - always a goner for a fit man with dark hair. Though David Soul looks pretty good in that vid. Boy I am fickle ! Good vid. Those two were definitely more touchy feeley than Bodie & Doyle. Pretty rare to see B or D put their arm around each other. Definitely spotted a Bodie roll done by David Soul, with a bit of eyebrow action too ! I am still enjoying rewatching The Pros on dvd. Got a couple of eps to go. I am nuts on anything British at the minute (hey that can easily change though remember I am fickle! Hello USA ) |

Technically, The Professionals is the British version of Starsky & Hutch since S&H were on the air for two years before The Professionals made their appearance

Hmmm Didn't know that S & H were first. Did they kill as many people in their show as The Pros. did ? Bodie seemed to always be putting a bullet through someone (often rescuing his beloved Doyle).
For any Bodie fans out there, who curse the many layers of clothing that covered his perfectly Greek God like body, I have watched (more than once, well maybe more than five times!) a nice little vid on Ytube which uses Lena's Eurovision song winner as its tune.
If you search Bodie and Satellite, you will definitely enjoy a nice vid with a BW photo of Bodie in a singlet halfway through the clip.
Hmmm Too good not to share. |
